Development of Standard Drawings, Guidelines and Technical Specifications for Everyday Counts (EDC) Puerto Rico Highway and Transportations Authority (PRHTA), EDC Innovations

Puerto Rico Highway and Transportations Authority (PRHTA) EDC Innovations

Prepare the standard drawings, guidelines, and technical specifications for Everyday Counts (EDC) Innovations, as defined by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for Safety Edge, High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST), and Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) in Puerto Rico.

Safety Edge: Road paving technique that minimizes vertical drop-off at the pavement edge, to make it easier for vehicles that drift off the road to return safely, effectively mitigating pavement edge-related crashes and fatalities.

High Friction Surface Treatment: HFST is a pavement overlay system with exceptional skid resistance not typically provided by conventional paving materials.

Accelerated Bridge Construction: ABC enables highway agencies to replace bridges in hours, and reduce planning and construction efforts by years, reducing traffic delays and potentially lowering project costs.
